Choosing a pet sitter or oppas
Going on holiday or away for a day? What to look for when choosing a sitter or boarding?
You're going on holiday or away for a day—who looks after your dog or cat? At the sitter's home, at your home, or in a boarding? Each has pros and cons. Here are tips to make the right choice.
✅ What to look for when choosing
- • Experience with your pet species and possibly breed (e.g. reactive dogs, cats)
- • References or reviews from other owners
- • How many animals at once? A boarding with 20 dogs is different from 1-on-1 sitter
- • Emergency contact: what if something happens? Is a vet reachable?
- • Meet & greet: let your pet meet the sitter/boarding before you book
📋 What to hand over
Make sure the sitter has everything:
- • Food, medicines, favourite toy and blanket
- • Vet contact details and your phone number
- • Routine: feeding times, walk times, special notes (anxiety, allergies)
