Caring for your senior dog or cat
Older animals deserve extra attention. How to keep your senior healthy and comfortable.
A dog or cat of 7 years or older is often considered a senior—for large dogs sometimes earlier. Older animals have different needs: adjusted nutrition, gentler exercise, more frequent vet visits. With the right care they can enjoy life for years to come.
👀 Signs of ageing
Watch for these signals:
- • Less active, more sleeping, shorter walks
- • Stiffer when getting up, difficulty with stairs or jumping
- • Change in appetite, weight loss or gain
- • More frequent urination, more drinking, confusion (especially at night in cats)
❤️ Caring for your senior
- • Regular vet check-ups—seniors often have underlying conditions
- • Adjusted nutrition: senior food with the right nutrients, possibly joint supplements
- • Exercise tailored to them: short, gentle walks instead of long runs
- • Comfort: soft resting spots, easily accessible food and water bowls
