Pet passport and travel

Chip, vaccinations, documents—what do you need to travel with your dog or cat?

Want to travel abroad with your dog or cat? You need a pet passport. The passport contains chip details, vaccinations and health declarations. Requirements vary by country—plan ahead.

📄 What do you need?

  • Microchip (ISO 11784/11785)—required for travel within the EU
  • Rabies vaccination (min. 21 days before departure, valid 1–3 years depending on vaccine)
  • EU pet passport or health certificate (from your vet)
  • Some countries: deworming, extra vaccinations, blood test—check your destination's requirements

⏱️ Plan ahead

Rabies must be administered at least 21 days before departure. For countries outside the EU, extra steps are often needed (blood test, quarantine). Start at least 2–3 months in advance.
